ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Recital: May 17th Bartlesville Community Center

Dear Attitudes Dance Studio Family,

I come to you with a mixed heart full of emotions, bittersweet sadness, profound gratitude and a hope for the future, as I announce the upcoming closure of  Attitudes Dance Studio  this Spring 2025 season. After 29 incredible years, this decision weighs heavily on me, but I know it’s time to pass the torch.

This past weekend’s competition win was a perfect reminder of why this studio has meant so much to me—your talent, dedication, and spirit continue to amaze me. What a way to celebrate our legacy! I have so many wonderful memories teaching the Collinsville youth, and watching them dedicate themselves and find success. Now, as we prepare for one final bow, I hope you’ll join me in making our 29th Annual Recital on Saturday May 17, 2025 the most meaningful celebration yet. It will be my last with you all, but I want it to reflect every ounce of love this community has shared over nearly three decades.

While this chapter must close, I’m actively exploring options to sell the studio’s assets or business to ensure our dancers still have a home here in Collinsville. My dream is to see this space continue to nurture artists, as it has for generations. I’ll share updates as soon as I can.

I am not saying goodbye to dance, just to this particular stage. I will be shifting my focus to judging competitions and providing consulting services with other studios. I make this change, for important and deeply personal reasons. I want to fully support my family with my full presence. Yet, the time commitment of being a judge and a studio owner has not provided the time to be properly supportive of my family.

My heart will always be with this community and the many dancers I have had the privilege to see grow.

To every student who ever walked through our doors: You are why I poured my soul into this place.

To the parents who trusted us: Thank you for sharing your children’s light.

Let’s make these final days together unforgettable. Enrollment for our summer sessions and other upcoming activities have been put on hold, until I have concluded talks with the interested parties. I hope you’ll join us at our last recital to dance, reminisce, and celebrate all we’ve built.

With love,
Anita Bullen,
Owner and Proprietor, Attitudes Dance Studio

Please come with Hair and Make up done. You can change into your costume at the studio if you would like.

PARENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE PICTURE ROOM. You will be able to see the picture room on the TV in the lobby.

However, with parents and extras in the camera room it becomes very distracting, loud, and confusing. Dancer’s may not hang

out in the picture room. Please only come in the picture room when your class is asked to enter and exit after your photos are

complete.  We appreciate your understanding that we want to get the best pictures possible of your dancers.

REHEARSAL / RECITAL

Make up for recital:  All female dancers will need to wear makeup for the stage, as stage lights wash out your coloring and facial features.

For dancers in creative movement, level 1 and level 2 classes – brown and white shades for eyes shadow, pink cheeks, pink lip

stick and mascara.

For dancers in level 3 or above – brown and white shades for eye shadow, pink cheeks, red lip stick and mascara.

Rehearsal is NOT open to the public. This is NOT a show. We will be working on lighting, sound and spacing. Parents working in the

dressing room will need to stay with the dancers. All other parents may leave and return in time for the end of rehearsal, wait in the

dressing room with their dancer or sit in the lobby of the BCC until show time. Parents working in the dressing room are allowed to

watch their dancer or any class they bring to backstage from the backstage area, or they may step into the audience to their seat.

Prop movers, curtain person and studio staff only backstage. Things get to loud and crowded otherwise. PLEASE DO NOT SPEAK

TO MISS ASHLEE during the show as she is calling light and sound ques and can not be distracted. Ms. Anita and Miss Lily will be

the go-to persons for getting dancers on and off stage. Miss Kally will be taking photos from the pit that we will share with everyone.

Flash Photography and Videoing are prohibited during the show.  We have found this makes for better viewing for everyone at

recital and allows everyone to enjoy the show. Flash photography is not only distracting to other audience members but is also

dangerous for the dancers. We do hire a professional video company to film recital and everyone receives a copy of the entire

recital. Miss Kally will be taking photos of the dancers from the pit area and these will be sent out to all dancers.  The studio DOES NOT

give permission to anyone to video or sell videos of our recital.  Here is the MOST IMPORTANT part…. It is up to you to make sure all

your guest are aware of this rule. You are more than welcome to take pictures of your child in the lobby area with friends and family but

please do not bring people onto the stage.

Please remember on recital night that theatre etiquette is expected and appreciated. Please DO NOT leave during a dance number,

as you could be blocking the view of someone who is trying to see their child and it is distracting to the dancers on stage. Remember to

turn off all cell phones and other devices and put them away, the noise & lights are distracting and interfere with our program and video!

Most importantly don’t forget to applaud the dancers who are working hard on stage.

There is NO food or drinks allowed in the auditorium, lobby or in the dressing rooms. Last year the dressing rooms were a hot mess at

the end of the recital with food and spilled shakes, which I had to clean up. The BCC is now making us post a security person at the

dressing room area to monitor this situation. There will be a break between dress rehearsal and recital. You may leave to eat or you may

choose to eat on the lawn by the outside stage.  Please note dancers may have water bottles in the dressing room.

All the students will be checked into the dressing room upon arrival. All students will have 1 “pick up” bracelet that will be given to

1 parent/adult guardian.   NO ONE will be allowed into the dressing room without a bracelet! Please understand this is for your child’s

safety and to keep organization in the dressing room.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to the scheduled dress rehearsal time. If you are late, you will miss your dance. We cannot wait for anyone.

You will need your costumes, recital t shirts, tights, shoes and make up for dress rehearsal and recital.

Parents, siblings, and guests are not allowed in the backstage area at anytime. This is to keep things running smooth for the dancers on

the stage area. Thank you in advance.

REHEARSAL

9am to 12pm, Saturday, May 17th

Bartlesville Community Center

300 SE Adams Blvd

Bartlesville, OK 74003

Arrival Time for Dancers: 8:30am to 8:50am

  • Please note doors will not open for dancers to enter before 8:30am

1 parent can take the dancer to the dressing room to find their designated area and set up their items. Parents may stay in the dressing

room during rehearsals and check their dancer out when they finish their last routine. Please leave all items dancer needs for stage in

the dressing room so you don’t have to track it in and out. Parents: please note during rehearsal you may not sit in the auditorium at all!

They will not allow us to do the sound checks for our video person if there are people in the auditorium. You may sit in the dressing room,

or for older dancers, parents may leave and return. Please do not come backstage with your dancer. You time to watch will be during

recital. We will be working during rehearsal. It gets to congested and loud if parents are in the backstage area. Too many distractions

to do what we need to do to be show ready.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Recital

2pm Show Time

  • Please have dancers back between 1:15pm – 1:30pm

Seating area will open at 1:30pm

This is a big auditorium with plenty of great seats so no need to worry about seating.

We do kindly ask that you not place blankets and such over seats to save multiple seats.

If you plan to go in and out a lot to help dancers change, please make sure you sit near the end of an isle as to not disturb everyone

else’s view on your way in and out.

We cannot stress enough the importance of kindness, courtesy, and awareness. Everyone in the audience is there to see someone

so let’s be polite to one another and make sure we are not interrupting some else’s viewing/hearing. Please do not leave during a dance

(except in an emergency), do not enter during a dance, and please don’t sit and talk loudly during a performance.

Dancer’s will be released from the drop – off spot by the dressing rooms after finale. Only the parent/guardian with the wrist band will be

allowed in the dressing room and/or to check the dancer out. Please make sure you check your dancer out on the way out. All other

family/audience members may wait in the lobby.
